Unable to find a previous thread about this. I cannot seem to locate the option to change the DTE calculation on my 2020 F450. Anyone know if it’s an automatic change when selecting Tow/Haul mode? My 2017 F350 has it and my buddy’s 2016 F350 has it. Anyone else have this issue also?
DTE is simply calculated by the MPG average multiplied by the remaining fuel.
The calculation automatically varies as those numbers change, up and down.
When in engineering test mode you can more closely calibrate the trucks overall MPG estimate to match your hand calculated MPG. I think that's what the OP is looking for.
As stated above the truck knows it's real time MPG as shown on the cluster and uses that figure to calculate distance to empty, whether towing or not.
Search for engineering test mode will yield more information. This allows you to calibrate the trucks MPG readings to more closely match hand calculated numbers. As stated above the truck uses the real time MPG and fuel remaining to continuously update distance to empty.
