The above statement tells me you have other than a clutch problem. As the vehicle picks up speed the clutch has already engaged so should not be slipping if correctly adjusted so no chance of chatter. Or is this semantics? Has anyone jacked that truck up, put it in neutral, and rotated the driveshaft feeling for roughness in the driveline?
A bad U joint or rear end problem will cause the problem you describe.
Well, problem fixed. Flywheel was never resurfaced when the clutch was replaced. Fist and second mechanics failed to do the job, and, both were less than truthful, telling me that the flywheel was resurfaced. Found a local father/son mechanics who specialize in 50's and 60's cars/trucks. They did a great job. Shifts smoothly now. A pleasure to drive again!
