On a 2003 F150XLT, is there a way to alter the programming on the headlights on/key in the ignition reminder buzzer? In its current configuration, I can't sit in the truck and listen to the radio without the buzzer being on all the time. The buzzer will stay off if the truck has been driven, turned off, and the door not opened. Once the door has been opened and closed, the buzzer will not "shut up" until the key is removed.
Thank you for your response. I do not have reason to suspect the door switch because the interior lights go on and off as they should. Let me be clear - if I drive the truck, stop, turn off the engine and turn the key to accessory, I can play the radio - no buzzer (chime). If I open the door, the buzzer will sound, if I close the door the buzzer will continue to sound until the key is removed from the ignition. However, if I start the engine and drive the truck, then stop the truck and turn the key to accessory, the radio will play without the buzzer. This must have something to do with programming logic and I'm wondering if it can be altered?
Russ I dont think there is anyway to reprogram the chime. It is in and controlled by the GEM module which could possibly have a problem.
If your truck is still under warranty you should probably take it to your dealer and let them take a look at it. They can hook up their WDS scan tool and monitor the switches etc for the system and hopefully figure out what is causing the problem.
