Line X did mine. I took the truck to them as it was delivered to me. Things that needed to be removed, they removed. Things that needed to be covered, they covered. They masked the whole truck off to prevent any overspray too. Did a fantastic job. Talk to your vendor, they should disclose what the process is.
I've had drop-in bed liners (will never do that again), Bed Rug (would do again if I had a topper planning on truck camping) and spray-in, even a DIY spray-in. I recently looked at 4 Ford trucks (1 SD, 3 F150) with factory spray-in bed liners. For the $595 charged by Ford, I thought they looked pretty bad. All had spots where you could see the factory paint through the coating, very thin, somewhat uneven application. After seeing those, I removed it as a factory option from my 2022 order. I'll have Line-X dealer do it locally when the truck arrives.
Drop-in - never again. The vibration of it in the bed wears out the paint and primer just inviting corrosion. Debris gets between the bed and liner attracting moisture, funk, nasty.
Bed Rug - Amazingly durable, quiet. If you plan on putting a topper on, it makes a great sleeping area in the bed. Great with spills, keeps things from sliding around. Used mine with a hard roll-up cover then an ATC topper. Really liked it.
Spray-in - My preferred choice when well done. Painted surfaces have to be prepped for proper adhesion. Line-X is probably the best around now but there are others that are good also. Pretty much bullet proof when applied correctly.
LineX did a great job removing the tailgate panel and spraying it separately (so you could remove it someday if access is needed), taping off the bed lights, and they removed and reinstalled the box link brackets too (it is sprayed inside the bed behind them). Very happy with the results.
Here you can see how well they protect the truck - literally it is separated from the spray zone.
Very even coverage even up under the bedrails.
I told them to coat everything as I don't plan to remove any hardware with the exception of the tailgate panel.
You can see how the tailgate panel hardware is still easily removable.
The light and switch were taped off with the wire tape they use so clean lines when pulling it off later. The box link plates were removed, sprayed the surface and interior, and then bolted back up. I removed the plastic placard at home and stuck it onto the beer fridge
Yep, I can confirm Line-X will do all that is necessary regarding taping off, removing etc. They are professionals and do this every day. I've had two trucks done with their "Premium" level coating, and both beds looked as good after 7-8 years as on day #1.
Having Line x on the 22. Located next to dealer. Currently they are having supply issues with one of the two ingredients. Hopefully things will settle down by the time the truck arrives.
My last 2 trucks were done after purchase - One Line X and one with another brand. Both times I left everything attached to the bed and the installer taped or removed what they needed.to My current F350 has the Tough Bed from Ford. The only thing I don't like about it is they sprayed over the bed attachment bolts so removing the bed at some point will be difficult and break the integrity of the coating.
I just had my 21 done two days ago by Line X. I took it to them with the keys to the Box Link cleats, they did the rest. They told me they don't remove the bed bolts in any case after I asked them to leave them alone. It took then less than two hours, and the results were great!
They did fine on mine. Took off or taped over where needed. Including re-installing the same bolts to hold the bed down. Even though they are "one-time" use, hasn't been an issue.
