Bed Rails/BedMat
Bed Rails/BedMat
Greetings.
I was looking at removing the ford bedliner from my truck and replacing with a bedmat.
This truck has been in AZ most of it's life and the bedliner has buckled and warped with the AZ sun. Now that its in Ohio, water, salt, mud, etc gets under the bedliner and just sits there.
I would really like to get a Line-x or RhinoLiners spray in but I am getting quoted 600 bucks for a spray in.
So I am thinking a cheaper route would be to remove the ford bedliner, clean up the bed, and drop in a bed mat.
For the Line-x or RhinoLiners, I was going to have them spray over the bedrails since the bedrails are the only thing on the truck that has paint issues but with that its pushing 700 bucks for a spray in.
What are you guys using for bed mats, bed rail protectors?
Thanks for any input you have.

My truck originally had that plastic drop in bedliner and it was all warped and messed up. I have a bed mat from our previous truck that I put in it when I first got it and removed that liner. I got some composite bed caps from JCW and it looks great. I got them because that stupid liner screwed up the top of the rails. If it had not been for that, I wouldnt have any thing on the rails. I like it better like that. I prefer the rubber bed mat to the alternatives.

This is the exact route I went. 100 bucks for rail caps and a mat.
Here is the bed after I pulled out the liner.
Not too bad but not too great. I can see why a bed liner would be great if you are hauling rocks or steal but if alight use, it seems a mat would be the best and most cost effective.
The bed doesn't look too bad. It could have been much worse.
I removed that stupid liner about 10 years ago, so luckily the the underside didn't tear up the bed much.
I don't know why they ever used those bed liners. They rub the paint off.

Yeah. I cleaned it up and if it wasn't for the paint being rubbed off, it would look brand new. Although I do think it would look worse if there hadn't been a bed liner in there for the last 16 years. I got some color match paint so I will touch it up then drop in the mat
There is a do it yourself type of roll on bed coating that isn't expensive and fairly easy. A guy I work with bought some and coated the lower half of his truck on both sides. At first I was scratching my head about that but it actually turned out nice, considering what it looked like beforehand.
