Need help getting shift linkage back on the column

Hello
I need help with how the heck to get he auto shiit rod back into the plastic bushing the column? Seem to be a pain

I just went through this and you're right about it being a pain. I put some lithium grease on the linkage end, placed a small socket over the backside of the bushing. Then I used a set of channel locks to squeeze the rod into the bushing. It took a little while to get it in there, but finally went into place. Hope this helps

Pain...pain and lots of pain! I have always struggled with these. I use silicone lube and the biggest channel locks I own. Sometimes a tiny bit of heat.

Some people tell me its easy as pie, they must be very lucky or have gorilla hands.
