Hello there I have a 2005 6.0 in a excursion that will randomly kill it self when idling in park can be idling 5 seconds or 10 minutes .or it won't do it at all .does it hot or cold .fires right back up and runs all day long and won't do it again. It did it twice in the last week .it was hot out so I let it idle with the ac on for my dog come out and the truck shut off was gone maybe 10 minutes. Pulled it out of the garage with the ac on for the dog went back in to the house to get something come out it shut off .only common thing is it'll do it with the ac on .today it did with it off drove 40 miles to my parents house put it in park .it shutoff.im completely stumped.on what it could be .
Have you gotten a scan tool yet (ForScan Lite on a smartphone is VERY economical, and it is a good tool)? Getting ForScan was one of the recommendations in the thread linked above. IMO you need one now ... especially to scan for codes. If it is an electrical issue, it might be a task to find without checking for codes.
I'll look at the adjustable pedal .and yes I have the random longer crank when cold still .I've noticed I have to press the brake pedal in alot harder to get the gear shifter to move .I'm sure that's just my brake switch.i had an issue 4 months ago where it would kill itself while I was driving down the road that ended up being my electric fan clutch. Put a 7.3 mechanical one in fixed that issue. I put 1200 miles on it a week ago and truck didn't skip a beat.ill look into the forescan tool
Lol.thats what I thought possibly. It did it again today drove fine all day long. Stopped at the house. Let it run with the ac on ran inside came out not even 10 minutes later truck still running hopped in it shut off before I could put it in drive.fired right up and has been running fine
Is your dog turning it off? Maybe too cold for him. :-)
No joke ..... my wife's car got hit in a grocery store (HEB) parking lot by two dogs driving a car. The owner left it running and just by chance, one dog hit the brake pedal at the same time the other one hit the shift lever. It wasn't easy getting the insurance company to accept that, lol.
been driving it all week no issues what so ever. Starts right up ..it's bizarre no more long crank no more shutting off. I forgot to mention in previous posts she's a weekend/tow rig mainly. So she sits a bit
Since you had fan clutch wiring issues, did you make sure that the wires aren't damaged up in the harness? How did you make sure that moisture didn't get into connector/wiring since it no longer connects to anything?
