I am new here and to be honest I dont own a ford truck I actually own and use a titan 4x very often off roading with me RTT. But let me get back to why I am here. I have a 2018 Mustang that i track on HPDE and Time Trials. It has a 1- speed auto and I love the fact that it makes me faster then I was with a manual.Now here is the problem that several of us 10 speed auto guys are having.Heat and how to cool it down. have any of you guys figured out how to keep these things cool. We have tried extra coolers, channeling air, venting the hood to allow good air flow. nothing is working. We know that the thermostat opens at 190 and that seams to be the issue. by the time the thermostat opens it builds the heat quicker then it can be cooled. any help will be welcomed.
I use the rev max bypass and run both stages. It gives full time cooler flow and dumps the thermostat. This will set a DTC but this can be disabled by any tuner ( if your racing you undoubtedly are running tunes). I also run the GM Dexron 6 as do others. Some also run Mercon LV. I have broken a few of the 10r80's but have learned a lot since 2018 and so has the aftermarket and there is going to be a huge supply of internal upgrades available in the near future as more is learned. https://vi.raptor.ebaydesc.com/ws/eB...=0&cspheader=1
^^^That's an interesting device---seems to be quite an improvement over stock. If one were installed on a colder climate vehicle would that create any long-term durability issues?
I just found out that the 10 speed in our mustangs use a internal thermostat and therefore can not be bypassed. here is what one of our fastest guys has found.
