I have been looking for a mass air conversion for my bronco for awile thanks to this site someone set me up with a web site that sold them but they were a bit pricey. I was wondering if a painless wiring harnes would fit the bronco computer it says use a 93 mustang computer. Is the harness plugg in on the mustang the same as the trucks, if not will a automatic mustang computer work with an e4od. I know the answer to my question is gonna make me look stupid but for half the price I figured I would ask.
thanks
Hey fordman_in_nv
I was probably the one that gave that sight out.
The cheapest route by far, and as far as compatibility issue is concerned, is to find a '93 or '94 thru '96 Bronco at a wrecking yard. They came stock with the Mass Air flow setup. And pull the entire wiring harness, including the computer. The hardest part is trying to find a complete setup. And then the headaches might start when trying to make sure every thing is wired up correctly, if you could find a complete setup. I think the fuse box in these years is in the engine compartment. I'm not sure if there is also another fuse box inside the cab under the dash next to the steering wheel or not(like mine and most likely yours.
But, since I had a very hard time finding a complete harness, and the fact that I probably wanted to go the quickest and the most direct approach in this upgrade, I decided to go with Pro-M racing's conversion kit. I have tryed looking for about a year, in the wrecking yards and also looking for conversion kits. But to no avail I didn't find anything that would have helped me at the time.
The hardest part about the installation of this kit I have, was fabricating the mount that holds the mass air meter/filter and my air compressor. Put my new welder to some good practical use. Other than that it was very simple and straight forward.
