When a front tire wears out (on the inside thread), what is the cause specifically. I rotated the tires in the correct pattern but noticed a similar pattern emerge on the newly rotated tire. Truck doesn't pull either way but I want to get an idea as why the "feathering" appears. Ball Joints? Camber in or out, I'm not sure.
Thank you!

When the wear occurs only on the inner edge of the tire, it’s usually negative camber and possibly also toe settings. It is also possible that there may be issues in your car’s springs, bushings, BJs. Do you have a heavy winch style bumper? Ladder rack loaded on one side?
start checking ball joints first.
So, no heavy duty winch bumper and no ladder racks. I know these ball joints are at least 8-9 years old if not more. I guess I could have it aligned as that hasn't been done in years. It would give me a starting point if they had seen something out of whack.

A good alignment shop will inspect all suspension components prior to doing an alignment, and if anything isn't up to snuff they'll refuse to do the alignment.
An okay shop will do the alignment anyway and give you a list of things that need to be addressed.
A shady shop will do the alignment without inspecting anything.
Have a shop look at it. Most likely then all joints are worn and the camber/caster busing has gone bad. It’s located at the top ball joint and it’s like a sleeve with a hex crown. It comes in various degrees for settting up caster.
