Have mechanical question
I have a 2001 ford expedition triton V8. It will randomly stop accelerating while I'm driving for a about 5 seconds and then start driving fine again. It's like the gas pedal just stops working. The RPMs don't move when I press the pedal and it just slows down gradually and then it will start working again and speed right back up to where it's supposed to be. It idles perfect, switches gears perfect, it doesn't shut off or even act like it's going to shut off it basically does the same thing as if I took my foot of the gas for a second. I can't find anything online or on you tube that matches my problem so I'v joined this forum in hope to get some answers. Other then that it drives great this is my first ford and I love it just wish I could figure this out without having to take it to a mechanic

How old is the fuel filter ? How old is the fuel pump ? Get a fuel pressure test gauge and get a fuel pressure reading from the fuel rail schrader valve. You should see 45-55 psi if the fuel pump is good.

I've had the same issue for years in my 01 Navigator. Every once in a while I'll be driving along and then it's like I took my foot off the gas pedal for a second, but I didn't.
I think it's a rare-occasion misfire in Cyl #8 from Mode 6 data, but I don't know. It's not a big enough problem for me to investigate further.
