thank you for share with us your thoughts and the link for the product that you used, I have to made a decision if I will fixed for a12 or converted to 134a, I am happy that I found the pully that was missing on my truck, this forum is super helpful.
For the sake of originality I would have preferred to stay with the York compressor. but after losing 2 rebuilt ones and the only new one available is made in China I decided to go this route. not that my pickup is concours original anyway.
The Sanden compressor takes less power , runs way smoother and with R134 a fraction of the price of R12 it was pretty easy to make the decision. and R12 is soon to be gone for good so converting is a temporary option .
My opinion is if you have a dead nut original survivor or a show quality original restoration do what it takes to save the York. but if you plan on using it do the conversion and enjoy the benefits. kind of like radial tires it's an acceptable upgrade.
Nice kit. I have a hunch that supply of R12 is actually going to surpass demand in the near future once the crush the last citations and reliant K beaters.
I am willing to bet most R12 cars have been converted or crushed by and most other large commercial applications have been converted.
Besides all of the shops I called around here will not touch R12 except for one out of 10 or so.
