Thanks for posting Tim...quite a bit smaller than the Ridgeline which will be a direct competitor. I think the front end looks a bit Chevy-ish...squared off. The video of course is a bit vague with terms like..."max"..."available"..."starts at". For the life of me I don't know why the domestics won't suck it up and build them only a few ways instead of giving the consumers thousands of available combinations. I believe that...if they did that...they could concentrate more on quality as the imports do. Hopefully Ford will do it right and prove they can be competitive in the market. If they do that...they will probably have a hit and not have to retreat from the market like they did with cars.

Options really are limited. Of course, all kinds of mud flaps, floor liners and other doo dads are available. Most will be dealer installed. When ordering, most people will only have a few boxes to check.
It's too bad they didn't make a single cab option with maybe a longer bed, looking at the video most of the stuff they put in it doesn't seem to fit with the tailgate closed.
Yeah, have to agree concerning the grill... The way all the vertical ribs appear to be angled towards the left is sort of throws off any type of symmetry & balance. Only other styling issue for me is the horseshoe headlights, which it seems every brand is trying to use now. Hopefully someone comes out with an aftermarket grill that moves the turn signals above or below the headlights & driving lights instead of having the turn signals in the middle of the headlights.

They do have a tailgate extender available on most vehicles at extra cost of course. They spend a whole lot of time figuring out who their market will be and what they're looking for...this truck is being built specifically to compete against the Ridgeline...which has a 5 1/3' bed...and...280 HP standard. Right there...Ford is giving an advantage to the competition. Of course...Ford will win the fuel economy war...but...is that enough. I guess we'll see.

The only problem with the fuel economy war is that it's won with hybrid. So in 7 - 10 years, or X amount of miles, the battery will need replacing, so that wipes out any fuel savings at $5k for a rebuilt battery, and 9-12k for a new one.
I was looking at a low mile 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid with original battery a few months ago. Car wouldn't start because of battery. The best I could find on a top tier reman battery was just over 5k. For the price the car went at auction, the numbers didn't make sense.

Reman batteries are right around 2k for those. Most of the time it's not the HV battery. Prior to 2012 Ford had a battery countdown timer that would force the battery to not charge after a set time frame. This was changed in a update but many were not fixed. It is also as simple as using forscan to push the BMS in service reset. I have been buying and flipping hybrids on the side for several years now and there is deals to be had if you can do the work and have access to IDS.
Also most don't realize the HV battery pack will shutdown below 300volts. You need to make sure you have a good 12v battery in these cars or you can't perform the HV jump start. The last four cars I bought only needed the HV jump started and I doubled my money. As for the actual batteries there is plenty of first generation Prius running around with 300k and only 40% battery degradation which is fantastic.
For reference here is how you do the hv jump on a escape
These batteries I could find around here were around 3k for just replacing the bad units in the battery, 4k for matching the voltages on each cell, and 5k for matching the best cells out of several batteries. That's why I said 5k for a top tier battery.
There is supposedly a pretty big difference in reserve and overall usefulness with all the cells matched as close to new voltage as possible, at least according to the battery place. I don't know a whole lot about hybrid batteries, but I sure know how old cell phone batteries act...lol
According to the comments of the auction, a hybrid owner came and tried to get the car started, and couldn't. The thinking is the original battery was completely dead, but maybe not. I did read somewhere that the Ford batteries weren't near as good as the Prius batteries.
Unless that person had IDS or forscan on the laptop the vehicle wasn't going anywhere with DTCS in the BCM. It makes these cheap on auction day. I have only had to replace three batteries in hybrids but each time I have used this company https://www.besthybridbatteries.com/...hybrid-battery
Just saw a picture of it. That front end has too much Chevy in it. The last Maverick I drove looked like this.
Only no doors, no hood or trunk lids and we welded 4 rim/tire assemblies together in pairs for dual rear wheels to make it a deer trail runner. The gas tank was rotted out so we used a 6G boat gas tank and bungee corded it to the roof to feed the thing. good times.
Well, they killed the Explorer Sport Trac, which IMO, was a mistake. We own a 2008 Sport Trac, and wouldn't trade it for a new Ranger. Not enough room in the Ranger.
