Does onyone know it the new Maverick (either drive train combo) will be flat towable behind a motorhome? It looks to me to be a perfect toad (aka towed).
I'm guessing it will be the same as the Bronco Sport and Escape, which is to say no, it won't be flat towable. It's a front wheel drive compact car chassis. There is no manual transfer case that can be run in neutral. You could buy a 2WD Maverick and a front wheel dolly and there ya go...
The big Bronco will be flat towable, as is the Ranger pickup on which it's based.
EDIT--after a few minutes of looking, appears that the 20-21 Escape Hybrid is supposed to be flat-towable, and the Maverick may follow along in that spec. Instructions I saw said to start the engine before and after the tow, and every 6 hours during. No guarantee that drivetrain will be exactly the same in the Maverick, though.
It will depend on how the transmission is set up. These will be all E-cvt transmissions so all you would need to do is find out if they equipped the transmission with a auto oil pump. Previously only PEV got the pump.
Please feel free to pass along any relevant info regarding the Maverick. I personally feel that it's going to be an instant hit.
I agree with you. This is going to be the perfect little truck for many people. I have always driven an F-150, but the older I get...the more I want to downsize into a smaller vehicle. I have grown tired of how big the F-150 has become, and I just don’t think I need all of that extra space anymore. I’m not quite sure what my next vehicle will be, but I’m more and more confident each day that it will not be a full size truck.
