First off I am new to this site and there are alot of good topics. Ok now to my truck. A little background. Bought my truck 1997 f150 4.2l, 69,000 miles in march 2003. Three days after I got it its in the shop with a spun rod.
Rebuilt motor=warrenty
Get the truck back. Driving the next day
Cylinder 3 Missfire=screwd up spark plug
Get the truck back, everything is good for about 4 months or so then.......
Missfiring beyond control=new spark plugs. Now its been 3 months I need new spark plugs, I smell Antifreeze when I run my a/c or heater(no antifreeze on floorboard or on bottom of heater core). And almost every other day after driving on the highway and I stop, the idle drops and the truck dies. Wont start for a min or so. Any help with any of this would be great. Joseph
I have two words for you man....."Lemon Law". Return the car to the dealer and get your money back.
The lemon law states that if they cannot fix the problem within 3 tries, they have to take the car back.
Perform a search on any search engine regarding the Lemon Law. I'm not sure if it's different in every state but in Florida it's striclty enforced.
But i'm not sure if you bought the truck from a dealer or not.
If you did, take it back and demand your money back.
I don't think that truck is ever going to run right. Something is seriously wrong. Perhaps the guy who owned it previously beat the everliving heck out of it.
The antifreeze smell and fouling plugs could be that when they rebuilt your motor they did not seal a gasket properly and antifreeze is seaping into your engine. They'll have to take the motor apart again to fix this..
i wonder about selling me a truck with rims that dont fit it, is that a lemon thing? cause the rims on my truck are not the right ones for it the hub holes arent the right width for the truck....they had drilled out the front 2 and ive been driving on square wheels for 3 mos now
I don't believe that is part of the lemon law but surely you should be able to take those rims back. They drilled the holes to fit??? That's crazy. I don't know what to do here. How long have you had these rims and how much did you pay? You should of taken them back right away. If you've paid with your credit card, which I always do with big purchases, you can have the charge reversed and return the rims. That's probably what I would do.
Or you can take them to a shop that specializes in high speed on-the-car balancing and have them fitted correctly.
thats what they are doin Tom they are havin them drilled out professionally to fit over the hub in the center...right now there are 3 spacer plates on each side and the truck wobbles like they arent boletd on right....hell i pulled in to get lunch and 1 lug nut was missing and the other 4 were hand loose i mean i litterally took them off with my fingers
If you contact the actual manufacturer of the rims, they should have an exact spacer fit for your vehicle. I had to do that on one of my cars once. The store that sold me the rims used a very small spacer and then put duct tap around it to make it fit snug. My car vibrated all over the place. I contacted the manufacturer and they mailed me an exact fit spacer which completely fixed the problem.
Tomorrow night is test-n-tune night and Saturday night is Midnight Madness. I'll be out both nights. I'll have new time slips posted by monday along with tire pics, and maybe some burnout pics too!
Tom, make sure u post those times. im very curious about the difference those tires make, maybe that will push me into the 15s, all i need is 2 tenths.
Yeah, I'm at 17.070 right now. so all I need is 4 one-hundreths.
but I expect 2 tenths. so i'm expecting 16.8's.
The tires really are awsome. If you doing all street driving that is, which I am. My truck feels like a completely different vehicle.
It doesn't even feel like a truck anymore, it feels like a sports car. turn the wheel, and the truck flinds into the direction you turn. your body doesn't even move inside the truck. There's no squishy slop in the tires.
My truck tires, every time I turned, would smoosh all over and the place.
the kumhos can do 95 on the highway straight as an arrow with no hands on the wheel. They're just awsome. I think i've found my life long tire.
