Anyone ever install those frame mounted storage boxes? Just curious how they are? Camping world sells them for about 400 and if they work as advertised would be a nice addition. Thanks guys

These are boxes that mount on the tongue?
Harbor Freight has some really cheap boxes. Cheap in quality. I think they're over $100 and I would be reluctant to pay that much for such poor quality.
Camping World sucks. You can probably find the same thing somewhere else for less.
If so, those wouldn't work on my trailer. I don't have room in front of or immediately behind the wheels. I wouldn't mount it very far from the wheels or you run the risk or it dragging unless you have a trailer with a high frame.
Under-trailer storage sounds really nice. Never had any, would be worried about clearance on some trailers.
I agree. The areas on my trailer that would be ok currently have the stairs in front of the wheels and the tank dump lines behind the wheels. Further away, I'd definitely scrap it on the road with some of these camp grounds.

I bought one of those Harbor Freight trailer tongue boxes and have been very happy with it. Sure it's not heavy duty and bomb proof, instead, it's actually a bit lightweight but is actually built rather well. Plus, I would argue that the somewhat lighter build than one made of thick solid steel is better for this application since it's all added weight to the trailer tongue. The lock on it works just fine, and the seals around the top keep water from leaking in, even when rolling down the road in the rain. Saying that, when I originally bought it, it was to replace those plastic battery boxes that come standard on campers, and for that it is perfect, but I did drill holes in the front and back and installed a vent cover on each side so that air could circulate. I also drilled a hole in the lower bottom on the back so that I could run my wires through it. I also attached a flag pole mount to one side of it (I actually drilled holes into the box and then put a piece of wood inside to drill the mount too.) Anywho, I ended up going with LiFePO4 batteries so I ended up bringing them inside my camper, so now I just use the box for all my chocks and other random things. Overall, it's been a great purchase, and if anyone is looking for a tongue box I would definitely recommend it.
Chad, the box in your picture may be higher quality than the one I looked at in my local HF store. As I recall, it was already broken just from use in the store.

This is the one I picked up. They actually have another one with what looks like a nicer handle and lock but it costs a little more.
