i was reading the Haynes maintenance book and says how to reset the valve to get the light off, but will that valve also change the pressure to equalize the pressure? Or is that valve on to trip the light?
There is no side to side valve. It sounds like the passenger side caliper isn’t working.
it works, pistons move freely, and it does get warm, but the drivers side gets hot. I am wondering if the New caliper is bad out of the box? But that seems extremely unlikely
The Red brake light indicates the parking brake may not be fully seated in the Off position. Low brake fluid or the low vacuum switch (diesel only) can also trigger the Red brake lamp but also usually triggers the Yellow ABS lamp as well.

You only changed the driver side caliper?
The passenger side caliper is seized or seizing up, and your driver side is doing all the work.
You should do brakes in pairs.
