Just a quick question, what trips the brake light on the lower
left of the dash? Does It go to the prop valve or Is there a
switch that I'm missing? I have a 4x4 that has It and a 2wd
that has the lens and no wiring or bulb, what gives?
Back when I had my '70 F100, I unplugged the sender at the pro. valve. Kept the light out. I would guess the sender had failed/stuck and kept the light on.
Emergency brake doesn't have a light or switch. There's a pressure differential valve that lights the brake light if the front or rear half of the hydraulic system fails.
I have the same issue as well on my '68 F250 with dual caliper disc brakes in front. They have been leaking brake fluid recently, as have the rears on the passenger side of the truck. The leaking seemed to coincide with that brake light going on. I have not been able to find a switch either to see if it was stuck on. I guess I will try to find the proportioning valve to see if there is a wire/switch there. Better yet, I guess it may also be telling me to GET THE BRAKES FIXED!!!!!
