E4OD deadend

Hello everyone, this is my first Ford that's newer than a 77 and this trans has had me doing my homework. I've got a 94 F150 XLT 5.0 4x4 This trans was installed by Ford back in 03 and I'm thinking about cutting ties and getting a donor truck and going manual. Last week I found the guild very dark no burnt smell and a filter with quite a bit of friction material and metal pieces. This is a list of everything I have done and if I missed anything any help is greatly appreciated. New radiator and external cooler up front, clutch fan, temp sender, tps, mlps and updated conector , solenoid pack and conector , speed sensor on rear end , shifter and OD button, flushed trans and converter with new fluid , filter , went threw wiring harness , reset the computer and I'm probably missing something I don't have my notes in front of me. Last few days it's done better than it ever has in the last 10yrs until this eve going home it started with the converter locking and unlocking then to hard shifting down and up. Fluid is at correct level, still bright red , temp was 135 and no codes. I haven't messed with the cluster cause it's never showed any signs . Am I missing something right in front of me or is it just time to part ways with it.

So you found a worn out transmission and then changed everything that couldn't fix that. That seems to sum up what you did here.

The trans is worn out. Rebuild or replace it.

i see what your saying so here's the complete history , trans installed in 03, started hard shifting and converter issues about 5yrs ago but it was every once and awhile. When it shifted hard or acted up it went right back home and it wasn't drove. He had it looked at but it wouldn't act up plus I don't care for the shop be took it to. Now this truck has never been loaded or pulled a trailer and the trans to date might have 40,000 miles since 03, I bought a lil over a year ago cause I haded to see it sit and just go down hill. Now everything I've done has been over the last yr and I go over and check everything again, it seems to help for lil but then it acts up again. I know it's got some age but it don't have the abuse. Now I've done rebuilt the engine and a complete front end rebuilt so I don't mind to do a manual conversion for the trans, I just want to make sure I'm not over looking anything is all
