I have a 2008 F250. The anti theft light flashes rapidly and won't turn over and start. Have checked all the fuses and grounds. It acted up a couple of years ago. Finally got the light to go out and start. Took it to dealership and they sold me a new key and programmed it. It worked for awhile but it still acted up every now and then. Now it won't start at all and the anti theft light is on again. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Short of having a wrecker tow it to dealership.
I'm not even sure what this system is called, it was Pats I believe. If it's the same the antenna is around the lock cylinder housing behind column shroud, maybe it has somehow moved or has a wire to it that only makes contact part of the time. I haven't had any of the newer stuff apart before.
Yes sir it does have one. It may not be working but it hasn't moved and the 2 wires plugged into it doesn't seem to have been disturbed. I'm probably going to go ahead and pick one up and try it. Thank you.
The flashing theft light indicates the system sees a fault and has disabled cranking.(It thinks your trying to steal it.)Do you have a spare key for the truck? If so I would try that first. If not, you need a scan tool, such as FORSCAN or an IDS or similar than can read codes from more than just the PCM to see what the truck is not liking. Throwing parts at it can get expensive fast.
