I've had a membership here for a while but haven't taken part in the forum due to another big project but now am starting on my 1997 E250. It's got a 460, automatic and needs the engine rebuilt. I just started today taking the front bumper and grill assembly off and plan on taking the radiator support out to either repair or replace, it's got rust. At this time I'm not going to do a frame off but do want to take care of what needs to be taken care of and upgrade a few things too. One of those is a Dana 60 front axle. I already have it and it have installed the correct gears and a Detroit true trac. I think I want to paint the frame with POR15. The bed is coming off so that part will be easy access. More to talk about but I just thought I'd give an overview of what I'm wanting to do and am very open to advice.
Thanks
Jim

If it helps you can pull the 460 without removing the front end. I did it on my 94 by unbolting the hood hinges and moving the hood up higher. Just be careful on how high, so you don't dimple the cowl.
For my part, if you're going to pull the engine, go ahead and pull the front sheetmetal and core support. It just makes everything so much easier to deal with, and it's not that big a deal to remove and reinstall it.
Thanks guys. Taking the front support out is a must do while I'm this close. Both sides of it are rusted around the body mount bushings. When I get it off I'll decide whether to buy a new one or repair this one.
