Is there a good brand name to look for as a replacement towing mirror. My RH mirror quit retracting as many others have done so. The OEM parts are ridiculously priced since mine have all the possible options - heat, directionals, running lights extend, fold, temp sennsor, and chrome cap. Ford's price is over $1000 each and, used at salvage yards are in the 7-900 buck bracket. I can do without heat and memory but need lights, fold and extend as well as temp sensor mount. Or does someone have a busted one with good internals that I can rebuild mine with?.Or are replacement parts available somewhere\ since the Ford parts on line book doesn't list any but motors?

I was in the same boat when both my mirrors quot on my 2012. I bought some from 1A Auto, $400 a piece but worth every penny. The ones I seen on EBAY looked like crap. Just my 2 cents worth..

I looked at1A and some of reviews said that the mirrors (Trail Ridge) had some wiring problems and that there was no up/down adjustment by using the switch. Did you have that problem? Or was it just a batch of miswiref connectors and have been cycled through.

no problems, everything worked as soon as I plugged them in. i bought them about 5 years ago so not sure when this wiring problem happened.
I bought parts from the site below and had my body shop replace all in the mirror assy. Has worked flawlessly since. Meant to add, they charged me $150.00 to rebuild it with me supplying the parts.

Thanks for the reminder.I've seen that site but am reluctant to blindly order a couple hundred bucks worth of parts without disassembling the mirror first to make sure what's needed - and something I probably should do first
All the gears in the original mirrors, are plastic. These are brass, should last a lot longer.

Yes, I did see that. Why I'm not rushing out to give these a try without taking the mirror apart is that it occasionally decides to work normally which tells me that something is jamming the system. Unfortunately 2 screws have stripped the plastic and just haven't had the time to dive in with a die grinder and why a replacement might be my best solution,
I thought retiring from a real paying job would give me time for these little projects. What a mistake that idea was.
stripped cogs on the plastic gears was what caused mine to operate periodically. Brass fixed that, and the new motors make a little more noise than the original ford motors, but they operate flawlessly.

Another one here for 1A. I ordered a mirror for my 2011 driver's side, and the first one didn't work (wouldn't go up and down). So they sent me another one. Told me to keep the first one. The second one worked fine for the 4 or 5 years I still had the truck. The first one I popped the mirror off, and it turns out it was a simple nylon gear that popped out of the track. I replaced it, and it worked just fine. So I had a spare (sold now). I would by from them again.
Does the OE Ford top cap fit the Timber Ridge (1A ) mirror or is that another 100 plus bucks for a chrome cap to match the other. If so, getting near the price of a new one from Tasca Ford parts
