Repair a 2011 Tow Mirror?

I crunched the outer casing parts on my passenger side tow mirror. It's a cosmetic problem as I can still remotely focus, extend, retract & fold. The two casing parts are separated at the bottom about an inch & I'm worried about getting water in etc. I've been unable to find any info about disassembly & repair, and haven't been able to source individual parts. The only complete cure I've found is a new mirror from Ford at $1202.
Has anybody managed to disassemble this mirror? If I could safely get it apart it looks like I could somewhat straighten the smaller casing and reduce or even close the gap.
Thanks for your time.

I had a similar problem about a year ago, and I was unable to find parts individually. But the part quote you got is pretty high, I would give Tousley Ford a call, they are one of the largest online parts retailers and I've never seen anyone beat their prices. I was quoted around $600 for that mirror last year from Tousley.

Thanks for the tip Crazy,

I had a look & couldn't find mirrors but their prices look pretty good. I'll call them tomorrow.

I had them look mine up over the phone, they'll need your VIN to price the exact mirror.

You should also check your local Craig's List and/or E-bay. They usually have some pretty good deals. Once you wade through the crap on E-bay.

Thanks Ed, I'll have my VIN ready.

I did scan eBay & actually bought a mirror but it was not correct. It has the turn signal along the bottom of the mirror and it has a courtesy lamp on the bottom. After it arrived I double checked and it was clear in the seller's photo, so my error. I'm going to put it out on eBay & Craig's list to re-sell it with any luck. Come to think of it, I'll post it here on FTE as well.

I called Tousley Ford yesterday with my VIN. Unfortunately their quote was $1202, exactly what the local dealer is asking. I guess my mirrors must have an extra bell or whistle compared to the $600 one. Looks like I'll keep my eye on eBay & Craigslist and see if I can figure out how to close up the gap in mine in the meantime.

Wow $1202 for a mirror?

Wouldn't one option be to turn it into insurance? At least your deductible should be lower than that.
Sorry about that. I did that to mine but slightly less cracked. I did order the new housing but ended up trading off the truck before fixing the mirror. Now I have to sell my 06 mirror.

Hopefully you can find a cheaper one.

Wow, that seems really high to me, did you ask for their internet price? There is a substantial difference between their internet price and their regular one.

The one they priced for me was a power, heated, power-folding mirror with chrome caps. I don't think they make a more expensive mirror...

LMC truck is where I picked mine up. Ford wanted 600 for a new one, if I remember right I paid right at 240 for a new one. Same holes, bolted right in. It is a factory knock off, but at a 1/3rd of the price it was right for me.

Thanks for the tips guys. I'll call back Tousley and ask for internet price, and will try the other suggestion as well.
I'll also check my insurance but I think I have $1k deductible, so that won't help much.
