I am guessing the fenders on the trailer is why it was placed where it was.
Don’t over think it man, put the long forks on the forklift, pick the bundle from the end, set them in the bed of the truck. EZ PZ.

And yes on the placement on the trailer. To clear the fenders.

What makes you think all places with fork lifts have long forks?

The 2 we have at work, 1 at each building, do not have long forks so that would not work.
And to pull each pole out by hand and put them in the truck ONLY if I had to as I an sure I would be touching each pole when I was using them for what I got them for.

Well, seems to me that any good farm and ranch store that is a real farm and ranch store would have machinery to handle the task at hand.
But that is my thinking, maybe not so.

I move loads like this all the time, deck boards, posts and the like, the worst are those plastic deck boards, they're so damn slippery.
I take my 2" straps and pass them under the load and then back up over the top, this way when you cinch them down they tighten around the load but also pull it down to the trailer, that load would get 4 straps, 2 around the bottom bundle and to the trailer and then 2 around the top bundle and to the trailer. Then you go around and push, swat, kick, every piece and see if any are loose in the bundle, if they are you have to either screw or strap a piece of plywood to both ends so that if you hit the brakes they don't just slide out of the pile and into your back window.

Oh I like the plywood idea. I was considering repurposed conveyor belt or something for this.
