Ok, I have a strange symptom. At first I thought it was my imagination but now I can confirm the seat belt chime has changed tone on my 2018 F250 PSD. The backup collision chime has also changed tone. The normal melodic chime is now a much more generic sound. Still a chime but definitely different. I haven't had any service done or anything like that and no check engine light. May be my imagination but seems like the engine is cranking a smidgen slower than usual after truck sits overnight or for several hours. Like when your battery is on it's way out. Should get more than 3 years out of batteries, correct? Maybe one is going and draining the other? Any possibility this is related to the chime change? Truck runs perfect otherwise.
The chimes and tones are supposed to play over the front speakers. If there is a fault pending or if forscan changes were made then it will revert to the instrument panel and have a different tone.
There are a multitude of conditions that cause the chimes to play from the dash piezo sounder instead of through the speakers. When I remote start my truck with the key fob or the phone app it happens. When I start and stop the truck with the driver door open it will happen. There's other situations where it happens but I can't recall right now what they are. The main takeaway for me is a normal drive cycle or two always resets it back to through the speakers again.
Thanks for the replies and the insight. That is precisely the behavior; speaker chime has gone to IPC speaker. Didn't know it had it. I have used Forscan but months(years?) ago without issue and no changes recently. I am going to check the battery voltages and connectors this weekend. I don't have a load tester but it is a start anyway (no pun intended).
My truck did this as well. Batteries were low and needed to be changed. I've had to change my batteries in every Super Duty diesel about every 3 to 4 years. This resolved the issue and hasn't happened since.

Do you know, where I can set this via Forscan? At mine Explorer from 2016 the chime came through the speaker, but after conversion to SYNC 3 it comes from the piezo. Do you have any idea?
