It started yesterday. Every two minutes a single chime rings out from the center of the dash, no matter if the engine is running or not. I've checked everything I can think of and all seems normal. Nothing shows up on the display - instrument cluster. It does worry me. For the first time ever a neighbor borrowed my truck (the previous day). Never again. It is a regular cab, 4.6 liter 2004 F-150 - a great truck. I sure would appreciate knowing what the problem might be. Thanks for any help. Dan Stiles.
I'm thinking the same thing as FTE Ken. Your Seat Belt Minder is going off.
if this is only occuring when the key is in the ignition (no matter what position), then it can only be 2 things. Seat Belt minder and the Door Open w/ Key minder.
check your drivers seat belt latch for damage. the little sensor may not be registering the seatbelt being clicked
It's still chirping (different from the seat belt, headlights left on, low gas chime), and perhaps it is significant that the chirp is almost exactly every 120 seconds. It is a single chirp, maybe like a smoke detector with a low battery. It chirps when driving down the road and standing in the driveway - key in or out - it chirps. All three seat belts fastened or not, doors open or not, headlights on or not. It chirps when the seatbelt warning chime is ringing at the same time. Everything else is working fine. Sure would appreciate some experienced thoughts on all this. Many thanks. Dan Stiles.
Do you have back up sensors? If so, see if they are working properly. Maybe a malfuntion. Also, look through truck for anything neighbor may have left under seat or in glove box. Just some thoughts.
Thanks. I don't know about back up sensors, but probably there is a malfunction in there somewhere. Nothing left under the seat nor glove box. But, the kid in the passenger side did close all the heat/air conditioning vents and no doubt did fool around with the radio/CD system. Taking a long trip tomorrow. I worry because these are traditionally warning sounds and I don't know what they mean. Thanks again.
Dan Stiles.
