Question on oil gauge mod

I’m finally able to fire up my project truck. I have what I believe is a 96 gauge cluster cab is wired as a 96 with obdii. The oil gauge rests in the center of the gauge with key on, then pegs out to the left on engine run. I have what I believe is a new oil pressure senser in there. I have an after market gauge t’d off and I do have a good pressure reading.

my question, what happens if you do the oil gauge mod but use the stock sender?? It’s like my gauge is working backwards so I’m not sure what to do here. Lol. Other thing I was thinking is, maybe I somehow put a temp sender in the oil senders spot??? Any way to identity them visually?

The original 'sender' is just a switch. Open at '0' pressure, closed at 7 psi. So, the original gauge is just a fancy eejit light. Not sure what's causing it to peg out, though. Somewhere here on the forum, there's a very long thread about making the oil pressure eejit gauge into a real gauge.

Grounding the wire causes the gauge to peg to the high side. The gauge wouldn’t show different pressures with the switch. You need to replace it with the sending unit after removing the resistor from the circuit.

If you do the oil pressure gauge mod and bypass the resistor on the back of the gauge, it will peg the needle using the factory sensor. It is just a switch. You need an actual sending unit such as one from an 80s Ford truck Thus also requires an extension to attach to the block. It is located above the filter.

peg the needle high or low? I think i didn't word correctly what i have...
This is 1984 Frame, 1993 cab. all 1996 obdii wiring. Engine is a 2001 explorer 302, in its entirety, front dress, accessories, intake, throttle body, manifolds.

The interior is a 96 bronco.

So my problem/question, is more of a what happens if someone else had removed the resister from the gauge cluster, and i came along installed that cluster into a truck with a normal sending unit (switch). Think i need to just do the leg work and remove the cluster and see if the resistors there. if its not does anyone reading this offhand, know the value of the resistor? From there, i suppose i'll have to test the sender and see what it does. If i did accidently install a temp sensor in there, i wonder if they are grounded and use variable levels of ground to report temp. that would probably peg out the oil gauge. but its wierd that on key on, the gauge sits in the middle and pegs out to low when running.

I already have an extension and a T in the port, I think my orignal post said i have an aftermarket gauge installed as well. Basically this truck is about 326 different trucks put together into one truck. lol

Here’s a view of my progress thus far. Everything is finally up and running. Just have the little quirks like the factory oil gauge not working. Need to figure out how to delete the factory fuel selector on the bezel too
