So I hauled my camper to the land I store it on yesterday and as usual was bucking a 18-20 MPH headwind that for some reason shows up every time I haul to that area. Anyhoo compared to last year when I'm pretty sure I melted a little of my inner fenders (no downpipe no tunes) from the EGT's this year was a breeze. I was on the 40hp heavy tow, The trans kicked down a few times but not as often and not nearly as long. My EGT's hit 1200 ish once otherwise were about 1000 which was nice. Felt like I had plenty of power and overall super happy with the slight mods I made.
Now if I can get all the parts I have sitting on the counter in my garage in this fall might be more improvement next year.
I am going to replace the HPOP at some point also then maybe I can get that 80 horse tune to work ....then I can end up getting a new transmission lol
As far as wind goes every year now for the past 15 years when we take off out of AZ I go up to Salt Lake City then east on I 80. In the spring time I get a BJ all the way across WY. Then in the fall going back to AZ I have to fight the terrible head wind. Once out of Casper, WY I had 50-60 mph wind. At one point it turned into a west wind and I got hit with a sage brush the size of the side of the truck. Damn thing left scratches all along the side of my pickup !
