Thermostat has failed on the 65. It's a big substantial 63mm made in USA. Numbers 160 and 7302 are stamped on one side. Stuck closed even in boiling water.

Stock 352, no ac, ...HOT summer environ around here
These, ATND (According To NumberDummy) are your choices, I believe, at least for the 1966 models. I got mine cheap and NOS off the Bay, and there are both available there right now. The RT-16 (160 degree) one I saw is listed @ 4.99.

The style dennis carpenter list is like the one I pulled out. What is the difference between that style and the traditional stant at any auto parts store?

Aftermarket "gypo" autoparts store replacement. It doesn't look like the originals and DC's part number & applications are wrong.
2 1/2" diameter t/stat used on Passenger Cars thru mid-year 1966, on F100/350's thru 1967. These same 2 1/2" t/stats date back to 1949, were used in many other vehicles/engine sizes.
NAPA has the correct 2 1/2" t/stats, but they aren't listed on their computers. You have to get the partsclucks to actually look in their paper parts catalogs, usually stashed under the counter.

Genuine Ford Parts:
A8AZ-8575-D .. 160 degree Thermostat / 2 1/2" Flange Diameter (Motorcraft RT-16) / Obsolete ~ 80 available NOS
A8AZ-8575-E .. 180 degree Thermostat / 2 1/2" Flange Diameter (Motorcraft RT-18) / Obsolete ~ 73 available NOS
If anyone's interested, I'll list some of the sources that have these two puppies.
I bought two t-stats, the one I needed plus a spare. I also bought an NORS t-stat housing I found, in case mine should ever crack or rust through, but I expect it will now outlive me. Anyway, my grandsons will inherit my truck in 15 years, along with a sizable amount of NOS and used parts to keep the truck going for a long time.
In my opinion, DC has one of the worse item description websites, suggest make sure the thermostat does not use an 'O' ring to seal the thermo to the block as opposed to the gasket.
