180 versus 195 for FE?

Looks like my thermostat is not opening correctly. Temp gauge reads pretty cool (needle barely hits the normal mark) and it is reflected in luke warm air. Didn't used to be this way, but thinking I need a new thermostat. Do folks prefer for the FE motors the 180 or 195?

thanks-

I like 170. It's supposed to be better for performance.

I went with a 180° t-stat. I RTV'ed the t-stat to the housing before installation cuz it has a tendency to slip

Reminder...Drill a 1/8-inch hole on the flange to allow trapped air to escape upon installation. And on an FE the mounting surface is vertical, so orient the hole at 12 o'clock high. Party on!

I just stick my finger down the housing to position the thermostat.

Off the edge so long as the hole isn't covered up by the gasket or errant RTV. Remember to deburr the drilled hole.

Thanks. I'm going to get both gasket options. My engine is from 67 Fairlane and the gasket could've been a 2 1/2 ID or 2 1/8 ID depending on date code. Interestingly it says a 74 f100 could've taken either too. And couple references I saw said truck motors could take two gaskets.

It's not just the gasket - there are two sizes of thermostats that FE's use.

This is what you want to play the piano.
Many pianists can reach a 10th, but concert pianist Vladimir Horowitz was an exception, could reach a 12th with his big hands and long fingers.

Actually, Franz Liszt could span a 12th as well. He was the ancient day equivalent of Elvis in popularity.

Just for kicks I tried it out and I can reach an 11th. I may have the hands but I sure didn't get an ear for playing piano.
