Hi all. Hope everyone's Memorial Day weekend is going great.
I got the Riff Raff EBPV 1996 delete pipe and silicone intake boots. I'm barely able to reach the 8mm 12pt bolt in the back of the EBPV pipe. I can get a wrench on it, but no swinging room. I don't have the right socket and am having trouble finding one. I was thinking of using a curved wrench, or making one if I can't find one to buy.
What wrench have some of you used for that bolt?
What's the best thing to do with the actuating rod coming off the pedestal?
Appreciate that but I did that once to replace the exhaust housing. A real pain, especially w/o an over the top creeper and having to roll the truck back and forth in the garage. It took 2 days.
Nobody local has the half moon wrenches in stock. I have found wrench sets to order but can't get any of them before 10-14 days.
It looks like you can get a socket on the back one after removing the downpipe. But I still need the 8mm 12pt socket. If that doesn't work, I'll cut down a straight wrench, then weld scrap metal to it and form a 3 section loop.
Still wondering what to do with the actuator rod...
I want to have both a curved wrench and a 1/4in drive socket available once I get the downpipe off. Don't want to stop in the middle of it. 5/16 (which I have) is essentially the same size as 8mm (0.3150 vs 0.3125, w/ 5/16 being .0025 smaller). I found a curved 5/16 / 3/8 wrench at NAPA. It should be here this Wed or Thu. About $29 w/ shipping and military discount. #HMW1012.
I bought a metric halfmoon set from Cornwell, good oddball tools are great to have around. BMW M30 starters are a total pain in the *** without that tool.

It sounds like you already ordered it, but checking napaonline it's showing up at $18.49 with free shipping and no discount down here on the other side of town.
Hmmm.... That's interesting, X-ring. I haven't actually ordered it yet because they want you to pay in person - no over the phone CC orders for some reason. But my order is in the system to go out tomorrow when I go by and pay. I wonder why they didn't find it where you did. I'll look for that. I work near the airport so maybe I can go get it from work.
We're on high ground so we didn't get flooded but had a lot of rain and hail in a real short period of time! The 3 vehicles we had sitting outside are all clean now!

Do you happen to know which store you saw it at?
I have my store set to Los Lunas, but I don't think it matters. Here's the link where I saw it, napaonline.com:
According to the main store on 2nd st, they are only in stock in Salt Lake City where they are made. My local store ordered me one for $16, no shipping and it'll be here Friday. Good enough for me!!
The wrenches are actually made in Taiwan. They are warehoused in SLC. I picked it up yesterday for $16 and change. Free shipping. It did the trick on the lower bolt in the back. No swinging room but tapped it with a hammer and it came right loose. Glad I used anti-seize when I changed the exhaust housing about 10yr ago. Also got a set of 12pt 1/4 drive sockets. The 8mm was handy for spinning the bolts out and back in.
It sounds the same but I'm guessing it'll make a more aggressive sound when spooled up.
I think this part has the bumps for the EBPV valve because it's an original casting - made for drilling and installing the EBPV flapper. I didn't have to grind down any of it, even though the bumps were bigger than those on the one I took off!
