steering column
Another question, I am going to be putting a aftermarket steering column in my 56. When I took the stock one out it was a solid shaft down to the gear, my question is how do I brace the bottom of the column? Thanks

These are reasonably easy to fab with an exhaust clamp and a couple small pieces of angle bracket. That made a lot more sense 20 years ago and I ended up using the fancy swivel bracket 52Merc posted. The price is way down from when they first came out and you don't have to worry about concealing it.

A question that comes to mind is how is the new column shaft attached to the original steering box? Since the cab is mounted on soft rubber pads and moves a fair amount relative to the frame, how is that relative movement accounted for with the new aftermarket column? When the original column is correctly mounted to the dash bracket, it is not clamped extremely tight so is allowed to move as needed.
