I think that applies to most of us at FTE. I do appreciate the professionals who lend knowledge on here but most are just enjoying their truck IE hobbyist.
i hate it.. the prev owner of this truck thought he was doing the right thing by welding a replacement panel on the door.. but then he warped it.. then he drilled small holes trying to correct the error.. sooooo i ended up buying a parts truck, with 4 extra doors along with it.... like i said before .. i hate bodywork.. its time consuming and no instant gratification like mechanical... your paint will only look as good as your bodywork.. so far the cab is done... fenders are done. just waiting on the bed from the sandblaster.. maybe this week or next.. don't know... but I'm not in a hurry..... this is just a daily driver... but should look nice.... i already know that on the bed, i have to weld in the panels by the taillamps.. it will get there.... maybe be done by the end of the year....(2021)

You may get the gratification from the mechanical but who knows you did any thing?
That is what my dad always told me as you cant see the work that was done and I would say "and who would see your work if it did not run and stayed in the garage LOL
He was a body man and I had to learn his trade.
Like you I hate body work but I do have to say I am good at it and when my truck is out and about everyone has something good to say about it.
Yes I had to do a lot of mechanical work to my truck so it would move but no one see it like dad said but I still dont like body work. LOL
When I did the 4 year cab off frame rebuild I did it as a driver and to use not as a show truck and I enjoy it every chance I can as I have 5000 miles on it in a little over a year and most of that was during lock down to from work, no shows till now.
From this
To this
And I did all the work myself who can say that?
Build yours the way you want it as it is yours!

your truck looks great.... you are right at what you say.. i respect that.
and that red really pops on your truck.. i love it..
I like looking at what others are doing or have done to their projects in the different areas.
The skills others have and some of the ideals they have are just great
Thanks they are the factory colors the truck came with.
At 1 show I went to this year I parked next to a bright red Mustang and more people looked at my truck than the Stang LOL
The guy on the other side of me with a tubed Chevy car also was impressed with the colors and more so when I said I did all the work.
I have also added little custom touches that look factory. Kind of like your dash gauges, looks factory till you look closer.
Bumpers are free floating, no bumper bolts showing and I added fog / driving lights into the front bumper, did not want them above or below the bumper.
Added a rear dual tank , never an option on flare side, as the 16 gallon front tank is not enough. Used all factory parts from my parts truck and looks factory stock.
Used the long bed style side ribbed floor to replace the wood floor as I did not have any of the right parts and to much money for the right ones.
I had to change part of the fire wall to get AC in my truck as the firewalls are different from the factory between AC and non-AC trucks.
