Lightbulb dana 60vs61

does anyone use the 61 or is it crap compared to the 60, I have found there isn't as many aftermarket parts for the D61 . Can you swap parts from the 60 to the 61.

the 61 is pretty much a POJ. use a common dana 60. Very few parts interchange.

The Dana 61 was used to provide lower numeric gear ratios (3.07 & 3.31) in a HD axle for a few years in order to improve mileage. The D61 case is of a heavier design to resist stress much like a D70 case but it has the same weight ratings that the D60 has. The D61 was used in E/F250 and E/F350's mostly behind a 400 or 460. Some of the less than 4:10 ratio D60 parts interchange with the D61. The D61 is valuable to people with trucks seeking greater fuel mileage.

There is nothing wrong with Dana 61`s, people just don`t understand carrier & gear mixing. Dana used all these gears in Dana 61`s 3.00,3.07,3.31,3.33,3.54,3.73,4.10,4.56. Later Willis
