Happy Memorial Day Weekend! I want to install solid door glass (one piece windows) in my 54 F100. I am sure a bunch of you have done! Can you share which companies windows a kit you used? I appreciate your help guys.
Here is a link to the tinted glass at mid fifty. Tinted curved glass
I wonder if it is tinted green, kind of like the old green coke bottles. Anything real dark wouldn't work for me. Night cruising is a problem for me if the glass is too dark.
I have done both the curved and the flat 1-piece side window installs using the MidFifty kits. The first question I would ask is, "who is doing the install"? If you are doing it yourself then you should be able to weld sheetmetal...more so with the flat glass but still some welding on the inner door with both applications. When the side window goes from stock to 1-piece the glass extends into the hinge pocket inside the door, this pocket needs to be cut so that the front window guide can be fixed in place. Access panels are cut out of the inner door to facilitate this mod and must be welded back in place. The flat glass install entails making the window slot in the top of the door straight by welding in new pieces that hold the felt wipers. It is not readily noticeable on an assembled door but the vent wing is on an angle from the side window...curved glass compensates for this bend whereas the flat glass kit eliminates the bend. The flat glass install entails more welding but in my opinion it is a much cleaner look...more like the 56 side windows.
Thanks again Marten. Any issues with the install? Was it straight forward?
I had never done it before, actually never built a hot rod before. That is random crap knowledge that will come into play. I had a hard time reading the instructions and translating it to the doing part. But slow and steady and I got it. The second side was much easier. I did the drivers side first and it works perfect, although I will probably lubricate the channels a bit as the window is a bit hard to go up. The passenger side I am having some trouble with now. Not sure why yet but it keeps jumping out f the track about 1/2 way up, I go down an inch and then up and it is fine. I will figure it out. I like the look of the one piece and that is why I went with it. You do have to do some cutting of the inside of the door but not a big deal, depending on what your finish door will look like, You do put the parts you cut out back in, the instructions say to screw them in. I will do that and cover the door with some sort of panel until I paint the truck and buy the interior finishes. For glass I went with clear, the green is like an old coke bottle colour and I did not want that look. If I need it tinted I will have that done locally.

Midfifty sells it in smoke also, that's wear I bought mine for both my 56's
Sorry to bring up a old thread but to those that have done this swap, I have recently purchased a 1954 f100 that the previous owner was in the process of installing a solid curved window kit from midfifty. I reached out to midfifty but no luck with them going out of business I guess. Does anyone have what parts should have came with this kit? I have two angled rails, glass, a few bolts/screws and the felt strips that go in the bottom of window opening.
Do you reuse the factory slide on the door striker side?
