2021 F-350 6.7 - Occasionally when I shift into drive, it’s a hard thump. I can’t make it repeat. It is mostly (maybe always) when it’s completely warmed up.
Dealer kept the truck 3 days only to tell me there are no codes and they can’t make it do it. I told them it happens very sporadically.
I thought they probably had a transmission guy that understands what happens when it goes into gear and what would make it thump like that but….guess not.
I had the same thing happen to me on my 2020 for a period of time. I was actually driving home from a day with the dirtbikes and I noticed a hard thump when I was shifting from R to D as I was parking. Didn't think much of it but then, as we drove about an hour down the road, I got a powertrain fault on the dash and in the app. This all happened as we all started to hear about the 4/1 bulletin regarding transmissions so I thought it might be related. I called the dealer, asked them about it, and they said my truck wasn't affected by that. The truck had a couple "clunks" into gear after that so I scheduled an appointment to have it looked at but then it disappeared. No clunks, no codes ... nothing. I cancelled the appointment because, like you found out, if there's no codes and no symptoms, they won't do anything. Fortunately, I haven't experienced anything since. No clue what happened but here's hoping it was just a weird fluke ...
