As it said I need measurement for inside mirror button to remount the mirror.
If I can get the measurement from the outside chrome from the left & right sides to the center and from the top chrome to center of button.
This should get me close to where it needs to be mounted.
I have had others mounted in the wrong place from a glass shop and cont not use the visors as they hit the mirror.
Mine is an 1981 also, the mirrow mount is 6 1/2 inches from the top of the windshield on the inside, it is 30 1/2 inches from the
drivers side and 30 inches from the passenger side. All the measurments were taken from the inside of the windshield.

I got 2 at about 6" from top, 1 at 3" and 2 about centered left right..
That gets me a starting place
thanks

After getting measurements from members, marking the outside of the glass and checking if the visors cleared I mount the button to the glass.
It said to give 30 min before mounting the mirror but going to give it a day or so just to make sure.
It also said 1 drop of glue to the button but after on the glass it looks like it could have been a good size drop or 2 little ones. If it does not stick I know for next time I guess.
The mirror I have is the small 10" non-day / night but will keep an eye open for the 12" and if it is a D/N great but not worried if not.
If the outside mirrors were better placed, more forward on the doors but the vent frame is then in the middle, I would not even think of re-mounting the inside mirror.

Thanks for the measurements.

As you said, those side mirrors are pretty terrible location wise in my opinion. I find myself using the inside mirror and looking over the shoulder 90% of the time rather than the side mirrors.

That is why I wanted put the inside mirror back in.
Going to work at 3am the traffic is not bad on the highway but going home I take back roads because the outside mirrors are that bad in traffic.

Yes and also from either side to the center of the mount.
Thanks Chris

6.5" down or 10" down ? ...as long as 30.5" from the DR side & 30.0" from the passenger side is agreeable with sun visor operation, the mirror should have some adjustment wiggle room between 6.5" & 8.5"..My 64 Chevelle had a bracket that screwed to the ceiling.. Sometimes I like when factory things break on these modern vehicles then I can convert old school common sense stuff. Like that locking steering column and all that junk on the steering column. You ANTI- THEFT your vehicle yourself with secret switches and fuses. People put broken non working 8-track players under the dash just to use a switch on it that a thief would not suspect as having a secret switch on it. Although my FM converter really was to get fm radio.
When I get a great vehicle it's a keeper for LIFE & takes 20 years to get the DETROIT bugs out of it.
