I recently completed a Coyote swap into my 1965 F100. I used the Ford Performance Coyote Control Pack and Dakota Digital VHX-1060 gages. I know the info has to be somewhere out in the wild but I couldn't find how to wire the speedometer. There is a wire in the control pack bundle labeled OSS out so I wired that to the Dakota interface box but it didn't work. I searched this site, googled, I even called Ford Performance who was no help at all. I emailed Dakota Digital and their answer was I needed to buy their GPS interface with the antenna for $220.
I found the factory wiring diagrams for the Mustang my engine came out of and found the page where the OSS signal interfaces to the ECU. The Motorcraft generic number for the pigtail on the trans is WPT-990 and I found it at an online parts house, nationalfleetparts.com for $33. (I could have used the one from my donor harness but I didn't want to cut it up). I wired the factory OSS sender to the Dakota box Spd+, Spd Snd, Spd- and everything works perfectly. I was worried the the ECU might need the OSS signal but is doesn't seem to.
160 MPH speedometer. A bit optimistic, but what the heck. I'd tend to paint the "Mask" so you don't see the partial numbers 0 - 100 behind the new gauges. But, you must have left if like that for a reason, no?
