My 1996 Explorer Limited V8 transmission just failed 5 months after my warrenty expired. The vehicle only has 44,500 miles and has never been involved in towing anything. Has anyone else expereinced this? I had warranty work on the transfer case 1 week prior to the warranty expiration. Could the transfer case work be related to the transmission failure? I am petitioning to Ford to cover this under warranty.

Do you drive around in OD all the time?? Ive heard that if you do it'll burn the clutches out faster.What all happened to the trans??I would still try to rattle fords chain and tell them I thought your slogan is BUILT FORD TOUGH!!.Good Luck,Windsor
