New truck trying to diagnose
Hey folks just picked up a 2002 250 with the 7.3. It’s having an issue with the trans that I’m trying to diagnose. When putting into gear it will stay in neutral for a bit, go into first, sometimes it will go into second and continue. It will not downshift back to first without manual assistance when stopped. It also climbs in temperature when under load. I’m not sure if my temp gauge is accurate though. I’m also sure it is not the original trans, as this one is blue. And identifying marks I need to look for to find the manufacturer? Amy help appreciated

Others will chime in soon but here is a place to start....
First if you are going to have and or work on one of these trucks you need a good scanner for codes. ForScan Lite is a good place to start on the App Store and a reader ForScan has links to tell you what to get.
Second how old is the fluid in the transmission and is it at the proper level.
I can not be of more help without more information.
