Hows it going? I am having grief with my hood sticking up on the right side of my Merc about half an inch. Even took it off yesterday and oblonged the holes and trimmed the bottom a bit, made it a little better but still sticks up. Is it that the spring has lost some tension? The truck I took them off of was aligned fine. Any ideas appreciated! Cheers! -Shiny
A bad hinge can cause that. I need to get a new one for mine. My DS hinge bound up one day and despite
working with it a lot, it just won't quite go back to the right position when closed.
That is a common problem with old worn hinges. Those hinges are reproduced. I have heard mixed results from members who have used them, but they are supposed to be the same as the originals. Search: 6 results found for "Hood hinge" – Carolina Classics F100 (carolina-classics.com)
But if your hinge is close to fitting you can add a washer or two under the front bolt between the hinge and hood and it will bring it down in the back. I'm too cheap to spend $85+ on a new one so I did the washer trick on my drivers side.

Mine are much worse than yours, but this works like a charm. I used body shims in mine and was able to bring it down about 5/8 of an inch.
