96 302 roller block

Can a 1996 302 without distributor be made to accept a distributor?

Yes, the block never changed in this regard. The EDIS sensor used in the Explorer 5.0 is essentially the lower half of a distributor with that sensor mounted on the top of it, pull that out and a standard 302/5.0 distributor will drop right in.

You will need a steel timing gear on the distributor to match the steel billet roller cam here.
