Morning guys, I've for a 1979 f100 with a 351m and I'm trying to reconnect my 2150 carburetor back up and I did poorly on paying attention when I disconnected everything. Theres one line in question. Theres two valves ( I think that's what they are) where the radiator hose connects to the intake manifold, one vertical and one horizontal. The horizontal valve has 4 hoses steming from it and only two are in use. There is a hose that is the exact length to hook to a port that's to the right of my idle mixture screw on the front. Would this loose hose connects to that port?
the chances of all that crap still working is slim to none, but you can try it. there should be a hose routing diagram somewhere on the web. .
I'd just hook to the ported vacuum on your carb to the distributor and ditch the rest of it. then check your full timing curve and correct whatever you have to.
The left hand valve is a thermostatically controlled vacuum switch; when warmed up it opens and lets vacuum through from one line to the other (usually something like an air-cleaner mounted emissions valve. Based on its position the right hand valve is another one. To echo the above, I would start out plugging the unused line, make sure the bare minimum of vacuum lines are hooked up (vacuum advance, auto transmission and power brake booster if you have them, maybe PCV if you have it) and plug or cap off any open lines.
Do you still have emission label on the bottom of the hood? CA and high altitude may be different. Shop manual set with all versions will help. Original Ford not Haynes or Chiltons. You can find them sometimes on the bay. Will have all the diagrams.
