Those of us that like Cooper tires hope they maintain a high level of quality that we have grown accustomed too. Maybe Goodyear will leave well enough alone.
If they do go down in quality, we will know fairly quickly.
Hopefully they learned a valuable lesson with the G614 and Marathon before moving to the Endurance in the ST world.
I’m thinking the decline, if and when it happens, will not be quickly. Quality could/will go down as the Goodyear guys tell the Cooper guys “don’t do it your way, do it our way and with materials from our suppliers and we’ll cut costs and make more profit”.
If/when those tires hit the road and the miles pile up and consumers complain then we’ll know. That could be a few years.
If I was going to purchase the Coopers I'd look at the manufacture date on the tires to confirm they are true Coopers. My truck has Yokohamas on it but like I mentioned earlier I've only put 200 mile on this truck. One of the tires is scalloped and is on the back. Probably a front tire at one time that went bad from alignment or something. I may just purchase the tires and store them for a while until I buy my camper and read to use them.
Do we know the date Goodyear took over?
The dealer that I go to have a set of Falken Wild Peak A/T III buy three get one for $1.00 the dealer quoted me little over $1100 out the door but Discount Tire quoted me $1600 for the same set of Cooper Discovery that I have now, it's too bad that I'm not all the way ready for tires now but maybe in the end of the summer.
You might want to consider possibly getting them now if you can swing it. There is a tire shortage coming or anything made from rubber. Some kind of rubber tree blight attached the rubber trees in Indonesia where most of the rubber in the world comes from. Will possibly be years before back in full production. Your $1600 quote could go to $2600. That's why I'm doing it now.
Oh no, you kidding and then again I can see that happening I did thought about getting get and putting them to the side until the ones I have wear out I will call the dealer and see if they have them the price that the dealer quoted me was $1,100 for four Falken Wildpeak a/t's III.
No I am not. I call on car dealerships and independents every day. This is what they are telling me they are hearing from their suppliers. In fact one last week told me he paid $33 more per tire wholesale then he did in February. My plan is to do the same. Purchase new ones now and in a year or two install these when I hit the trails.
My Ford dealer can't even get Coopers. They have to order ST MAXX from Texas and pay shipping. Still cheaper then my customer that quoted me the other day by $50. The Falken price was good. They and another diesel tech steered me to Firestone Transforce AT2. $187 + $70 rebate. I even have a tech that loves his Master Crafts. Has over 10k in 2 years and said they still look and drive new.

I'm going to try and be optimistic about the buyout, but I am always realistic and do the research. So, let's say cautiously optimistic...
Goodyear is capable of making a great tire, the ST Endurance is one example. A different production line and standards, I get it... Still a great tire.
If Cooper declines in quality, I will select another tire brand/model based on my application, expectations, goals and research.

Absolutely, proud to have served and thank you as well!
It was never easy and sometimes even now it isn't easy, but I do not regret one moment.
Be safe and enjoy life, tomorrow is not guaranteed.
Colorado350; So how many miles on them now and ware pattern good? Thanks for the link. I was going to order the coopers today but there is about a $55 difference. But if they don't last as long is that up front savings worth the price of having to replace them say 20k sooner. The one guy on the link said he only got 30k out of them.
