6.7 emissions MOSTLY squared away?

So I'm looking at trucks right now and trying to weigh each one. I have no brand loyalty, just whatever is the best deal and I like most at the time.

Ram is out because I don't want a megacab and that's the only way to get a comparable cab interior to both Ford and Chevy.

Chevy I'm questioning because it seems I'm constantly seeing new topics or posts to old topics bringing up the L5P emissions issues. Mainly it seems the DEF tank failing in some way (heater, sensor, etc.) and leaving owners stranded.

I don't really see much anymore complaining about Powerstroke emissions failures. Yes I know they happen and as the vehicle gets older it's more likely, but that's a problem down the road.

Has Ford seemed to get it figured out, or still just a pipe dream it will be reliable? I use my current truck as a daily, but those trips are a minimum of 30 minute drives to go anywhere I'm going, primarily highway driving. Anything closer is in my wife's van.

If you are going to worry about emissions on a diesel; maybe you should take a long look at the Ford 7.3 gasser. JMHO.
If you think you MUST have a diesel, and worry about emissions equipment; maybe you should re-think ruling RAM out......JMHO.....Cummins seems to have their poop in a group better than FoMoCo or GM in this aspect.
Again, all this is just my opinion, and doesn’t count for much in the grand scheme of all things.

I haven't ruled out the 7.3 yet but I have seen a few instances where the 7.3 specifically was having 10 speed issues so I'd want to make sure that was over with

My 6.7L is 4 years old and the only emissions issue was a Nox sensor. It didn't affect me. No limp mode, or miles to limp. Just a light on the dash. Older versions of the 6.7L would go to limp mode. Newer versions don't. The DEF tank issue pops up here and there on the forum. More people are worried about the water-in-fuel issue than emissions.

153,000 miles on my 18 6.7 not so much as an engine light yet.

Probably just jinxed myself now though.

ditto on the 7.3 if it will suit your needs

too many complex systems on a 6.7 and you need access to ford service bulletins, software and tools to really understand what is happening.

My '12 6.7PSD has 213,000 miles and had the EGT sensors replaced somewhere between 110,000 - 140,000 miles which were a problem for the '11-'12 model years. The emission system on the Ford hasn't changed much since it's been pretty good.

It's obvious you didn't read the OP points. And the +'19 cummins are not without their problems which is my point and not the OP.

The guys here with 20+ Super Dutys are having zero problems with the 10R140 trans. They actually say what a great trans it is. You may be thinking about the F150 light duty 10 speeds which I hear are having issues. If you want a 6.7 just for local driving with stop and go traffic, it won't be a good vehicle for you. I daily drive my 16 and have no problems but I also have expressway driving and hills to climb. The average regen distance on my iDash stated 491 miles. I have almost 74k on my truck and the only problem has been the DEF tank heater which was replaced at 66k miles under warranty.

My truck was a want and not a need. I did not know about all the emissions stuff when I first bought it new. Thankfully my local driving routine keeps her happy. The point is is to drive the truck enough so the engine and emissions get hot, and allow the regens to complete. So you're decision has to be based on how you will drive the truck. Good luck.

Thankfully anywhere I'd drive daily is 30 minutes or more on highway and hills. Anything closer or quicker and my wife's van gets used.

There is an issue with a planetary thrust washer in the 2020's.
