Call them. When I was ready to put in my order in March I called about a dozen dealers about a no nonsense custom order. Several said up front that they weren't willing to go below MSRP. I asked if they'd accept X-plan and almost every dealer said yes. I picked the dealer I liked the most and put my order in. In the past few weeks I've had some of them follow up and ask if I'm ready to put in my x-plan order. It's a business transaction both ways, and there are a whole lot of Ford dealers in this country. I see no reason to just pick one dealer and pay thousands more than you need to. The same truck is going to be built at KTP no matter which lot it gets shipped to.
Robberson Ford is the dealer I normally order from and I have a FIN, they told me $1500 over invoice was the best they'd do for me. I was welcome to buy elsewhere and they'd still give me the same service discounts but no dice. Suburban Ford in Sandy ordered for me at invoice. .
So either Robberson has really changed their tune since March or the X plan is not what everyone thinks it is. no sales manager is going to tell a 30 year fleet account to pound sand if a gum ball machine coupon would save the sale. business just doesn't work that way.
I changed my order (the "boss" made some changes) and it raised my price a bit. My order shows the invoice as $69,268.64 and X Plan is $69, 266.56. So, X Plan in this case is $2 under invoice. Just in case some are curious.

X plan is .4% under invoice price plus a $275 fee. At about $68k, x plan and the fee equal invoice. So keep spending and you’ll get further below invoice.😁

That's a good way to convince myself to upgrade. Yea, the X Plan doesn't fall into the "smoking" deal category normally, but might right now. I shopped around and actually got some decent offers. the best i had received was invoice + $500 prior to this deal. Also, most of the dealers around here charge like $1200 for "special customer care" packages, which Include clear tape on the door edges and free key replacement for the first 6 months they don't usually budge on it either. This X Plan deal was easy and had zero dealer add on crap.
What I found is, while dealers in my area were offering fairly decent deals (some members here are reporting nothing but MSRP prices in their area), the dealers also weren't offering much on my current truck. So, I sold using Carbuyusa.com. I guess companies like this will sell it in the Nothing but MSRP localities for more than folks in my area would pay.
One more thing: Props to this forum and members! Before I came here I had no idea you could special order a truck and get a good deal. I always assumed (you know what that gets you!) that I would pay a premium for an order. With what I've learned here about features, I built my ideal truck and joined the Mustang club for the X Plan. I also learned about Carbuyusa here. So, thanks guys and gals!

Yes in a normal world, X-Plan is a bit meh.... But in these times, it can be a great deal depending on where you are at and what you are looking for. I hate dealer add on crap. I will never purchase another vehicle with that worthless overpriced stuff pre-applied. Got burnt once on a paint and interior protection system that was never actually applied at all.
One also has to work out the math on trade vs sell in states that let you offset sales tax with trade value.
I'm about to order Z plan and had no problems at two different dealers, both are perfectly willing to order Z plan. Just have to get the trade worked out.
I ordered a 22 F-350 end of March. Z plan, no hassle.

Suburban Ford is the one that kept following up at me to put in my X-plan order until I told them I ordered elsewhere. It's clear you've never used or even tried to use X-plan, yet you keep telling everyone it's impossible. Then there's a bunch of folks like me ordering with X-plan and having absolutely no issues. Why are you trying to mislead people? You admit you have no experience with X-plan.

I'm a retail buyer, 1st purchase through Robberson. Sat down with the salesman after test driving the only SD on their lot, handed him my print out build from the Ford website, said "I'm an x-plan buyer". He walked back to his manager, came back 5 minutes later with their order preview with x-plan circled to confirm they would honor. He said they wouldn't do x-plan on any unit on the lot, but for a custom order no problem. This was in early April. Got my email from Ford to confirm the order that evening.
