Removing circuits and cleaning harness

1977 F-150 351m/400

Good morning everyone ,

I'm currently cleaning up some of the electric on my truck by taking out all the wiring to the things that I am not using, (Heat/AC, oem horn, egr system etc...). I’m ok with this because I’m eventually getting the AAW harness , but in the meantime just toying around with things and learning how it’s currently wired.

My question is can I cut a wire at the ignition switch and completely remove a circuit from the harness and fuse box ? For example this big orange wire I believe is to the heater/ac, I’ve already removed one side from the fuse box but the other leads right into the ignition switch . Is it safe to have a cut wire coming off the back of the ignition switch?

additional question ! I need to install a Mallory pro master coil with Unilight distributor, I’ve read that it requires a 12v ignition source with ballast resistor . Where exactly can I get my 12v from ? Can I splice into one of these cut wires from the ignition switch ? Or should I connect into the starter solenoid somewhere ? Or should I splice into the existing wire feeding the electric choke on my Holley carb?

Thank you , pictures are attached
