door ajar switch strange situation

door ajar switch strange situation
03 f350. my right rear all of the sudden started "working" I've owned it for 4yrs and the right rear never activated the lights and my running boards. now all of the sudden when I turned the ignition on to roll up my front windows last night the dome light stayed on and my right side running board would not retract. really strange thing is when I open that RR door the lights go out! with the RR door open the Front right door works normally to retract the boards and kill the dome light.
I had just replaced both left side switches a few months ago.
could this be the gem unit? or is it just a strange incident that the light goes out with the door open? California truck no rust or corrosion.
also are the door ajar switches side specific? on the diesel source write up they say one switch fits all sides but on Amazon there's two different motorcraft numbers that say in the description left and right.

I have a 2003 F250 and on two different occasions I have had wires break in the harness between the door and the cab, one wire made it where I could not roll up the passenger front window and another made the door ajar light and beeper constant
go on and off which was really annoying.
