I have a 2010 F-250 that did not have a factory brake controller. I bought a used brake controller and plugged it in the dash. When I turned the key on it lit up green then went away. Plugged in the trailer (brand new, works on another truck) and it didn't actuate the brakes. Thought it might have to be flashed so a buddy of mine who works at Ford hooked up the laptop and flashed it and said everything looks installed right. Checked to make sure it had all fuses and relays relating to brake controller and it does even though it didn't have a factory controller. Any thoughts on why it's not working? Thanks!
If the trailer brake controller (TBC) lights up green for a second then goes red and turns off and no buttons do anything on the TBC then it’s not enabled in the Instrument Cluster.
I had to go in with ForScan and turn it on to enable it. Oh, did you get the new master cylinder too? You need the 3 sensor version, no factory brake controller gets a 2 sensor version. Without that master cylinder mine didn't work even after the forscan turn on.

I forgot about the brake pressure switch on the master cylinder, if you don’t have that sensor it won’t work at all.
I would replace the master cylinder with a Ford one ASAP before that cruise control sensor blows apart from rust.
The wire colours should be Green, Yellow with blue stripe and blue with brown stripe. Mite be hard to see what colours they are exactly as they can fade with age.
the 3 I am referring to are: 1 on the tank, 1 toward the grill under the master cylinder and then the 1 under the master cylinder toward the back (in your pic the boss is there but not drilled or tapped).
That probably is the connector. Mine was just hanging out below the master taped onto the corrugated relief. Pretty clear when you try to plug it in as its the only connector near by that will plug into that 3rd sensor
Did you ever get the system working? My 2010 shows to have the TBC readout on the dash in the manual and ford parts shows the TBC with no screen on it. I installed the BMC and a scavenged TBC module and used forscan to enable it but it still doesn’t work, I think my TBC may be bad or not the right one, came from a junked f450, don’t recall the year but pretty close to my 2010 iirc

Pull your TBC out and see what part number is on it, 7C34-2C006-AF is the display one 08-09, 9C34-2C006-AB is the non-display 09-10 and BC34-2C006-AJ is the 2011 and newer trucks.
I have found that a display unit will work in all 08-10 trucks but the non-display will only work in 09-10 trucks as the 08 truck instrument cluster won’t display everything. The 2011+ one won’t work in a 08-10 truck.
