2020 F-350 CC 6.7 diesel with a truck camper. Has anybody ever experienced a very violent downshift into 1st gear using the exhaust break on either auto or just on with the advanced traction off coming to a stop sign. I have only had this happen a couple of times. I did take it in to get this checked out. The dealership said they did a software update. I also experienced the transmission on a about a 4% grade decline with the same conditions. It seemed that the transmission was downshifting to lowers gears than needed and the rpm’s went well above what was needed the maintain the speeds needed. This happened a couple of times and then seemed to work fine at other times on the same hill!
I guess these software updates aren’t bullet proof!
P.S. about 4400 mile trip on the truck, it should have had plenty of time to relearn my driving habits!

I have and there are a couple of threads on here about the issue.
Did the truck also gain speed during these shifts with the EB on? That has been reported and I can confirm that in my 2020.
Mine sure did. It doesn't do it consistently though. It has only done it in my driveway (+1/2 mile and changes elevation +130'), traveling on a steep down hill at 15mph.
Yes it has downshifted and it lunges forward and increases speed, I need to increase the brake pressure! It’s scary and unsafe. I have also experienced a increases or uncontrolled rpm’s when leaving out of my driveway, just idling out! Is there any suggestions????
I've noticed that downshifts when coming to a stop are always a little more noticeable when the exhaust brake is turned on but I really noticed it when i was driving around downtown Seattle. If I had the brake on and I was going down a hill and the truck went over some bumps (****ty Seattle roads), it would get VERY violent with gear selection. I now just turn it off if I'm going into an area like that.
Does anybody know if the local dealerships are able to straighten out these problems. I am going to take the truck in, but I am trying to do some leg work to try to direct the service writer and maybe the (technician) to the potential solutions. These problems are headed towards a level of safety. I guess the next step would be to enter a complaint!
This is likely a programming issue. I doubt that a dealership is going to have the expertise to change the programming. Even if they did, the next update might overwrite their "fix".
A surge when downshifting could be due to the truck increasing engine RPM to match the downshift. I had that happen on my 1/2 ton truck. Scared the crap out of me the first time it happened. I understand why it's done, but I still don't like it.
